Fearless Fibers began with a simple truth: making things with our hands makes us feel whole.

What started as one woman’s lifelong love of making and a desire to create space for others has grown into a thriving local and online community—one that celebrates craft, compassion, and the courage to try something new.

Since opening our doors in 2023, we’ve become a home for knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, and all who believe that crafting is more than a hobby—it’s connection, comfort, and a path toward personal growth. Today, Fearless Fibers is a place where beginners feel welcomed, experts feel inspired, and everyone is encouraged to explore, learn, and express themselves freely.

Meet Nancy

Founder, Instructor, Chief Cheerleader

Nancy J. Nicholson has been creating with fiber since she first picked up a needle at age eight. By sixteen she was designing her own sewing patterns, and her creativity followed her everywhere—from the boardroom to twelve years sailing, seven of those through the Eastern Caribbean with her husband.

When the world shut down in 2020, fiber arts became her anchor, her therapy, and ultimately the spark that grew into a bigger dream: building a community where creativity could heal, connect, and empower.

Fearless Fibers is Nancy’s invitation to embrace your own creative courage. Whether she’s teaching an advanced technique, guiding a beginner through their first stitch, or cheering on a class full of students trying steeks for the first time, Nancy’s joy is helping people discover what they’re capable of.

She built Fearless Fibers on three beliefs:

Everyone is creative.
Making things together builds community.
A little courage can take you farther than you think.

Our team is made up of knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, pattern-readers, color-lovers, fiber snobs (in the best way), and patient teachers who want nothing more than to help you fall in love with your craft.

Fearless Fibers exists to bring makers together—locally and beyond—to share creativity, learning, laughter, and a sense of belonging. We partner with designers, farmers, dyers, and artisans from around the world to offer quality materials and experiences that inspire and delight.

We also believe deeply in giving back. Through community outreach, charitable support, and events, we work to make fiber arts a source of comfort, connection, and joy for everyone.

I am thrilled that Fearless Fibers is coming soon to Forsyth Co NC!! It will be great that we will be able to order online or go into an actual store close to home and be welcomed by the capable, and talented businesswoman, Nancy Nicholson.

Fearless Fibers will be just the place for fiber lovers of all kinds to gather, to find yarns and instruction for whatever they want to make! Nancy is just the person to lead this venture with her expert business savvy and extensive experience and love for knitting.

How wonderful it will be to once again have our own yarn shop in Winston- Salem! Instead of ordering from a catalog or online, we can actually feel the texture and see the true colors of the yarns we choose instead of opening the ordered yarn only to be disappointed. Hooray!

I’m so excited to have a local yarn shop again! Nancy has the experience and passion to support and develop a community of fiber lovers both in-person and on-line.

Nancy is the perfect person to bring a store like Fearless Fibers to the Winston-Salem/Clemmons/Davie County area. She is an amazing fiber artist and is always eager to learn new skills and help others become confident in their own fiber skills.

I am so looking forward to Fearless Fibers! I am interested in sitting with others to do our craft and taking classes and knitting with others on projects. It will be nice to shop locally and be able to look and feel the yarns before purchasing. Can't wait!
